What style of karate is this uniform suited to?
There are many different schools of karate, each with its own style. Did you know that the French federation's website features 32 different styles? Our kimono corresponds to Shotokan karate. With its short skirt and long sleeves, this European cut will suit most of the styles you'll come across on the tatami. Remember to buy the belt, which is not included with this product.
Is this uniform really durable?
To help you get started in karate, you need an outfit that's as tough as it is light. This kimono is made from 65% polyester and 35% cotton. This gives you greater durability, as well as fast drying and long-lasting results when machine-washed at 30°C. With a grammage of 220 g/m² (8 oz), the material remains lightweight, making it easy to perform your techniques.
What's so elegant about this uniform's design?
Whatever style of karate you practise, this karategi is as elegant as it is technical:
- The bottoms are cut so that they can be used with shin pads and shinguards;
- The jacket is fitted at the hips for an elegant fit;
- The jacket's amplitude at torso level means that all arm techniques can be performed without constraint;
- The slits on the sides of the jacket give you more freedom to move your legs, even when you're standing low.
How was the range created?
Enrique, a karate black belt and product manager, tells us: "Everything had to be rewritten, we started from scratch. Our priorities were reworking the fabrics and cut to create uniforms that were attractive but which still looked like karate uniforms. We put ourselves in the shoes of the users to create dozens of prototypes. They then underwent tests with around twenty karatekas, until they came up with a fair and balanced kimono that will win over even the most diehard purists."
