Swimming goggles: To protect your eyes from chlorine or saltwater and provide clear visibility.
A swim cap: Essential for hygiene reasons in public pools, but also to keep hair away from your face, improving your hydrodynamics.

Get all these essentials and you are ready to swim!
What are the health benefits of swimming?
Swimming is considered one of the best forms of exercise, as it offers a complete full-body workout with zero impact, fully protecting joints and the spine due to the water's buoyancy. It symmetrically trains all major muscle groups, enhances cardiovascular function and endurance, boosts metabolism helping with weight management, and simultaneously serves as an excellent means of stress relief, improving mental health and sleep quality.
How do I choose the right training swimsuit?
For regular pool training, the most critical technical feature is the fabric composition. Choose a swimsuit with the Aquaresist label, which is made from 100% polyester (PBT). This material replaces standard elastane (Lycra), offering total resistance to chemical attacks from chlorine so that the swimsuit won't sag or thin out over time. Additionally, opt for an athletic design, meaning an X or Y-shaped back for women, and a tight boxer or jammer with a waist drawcord for men, ensuring the swimsuit remains perfectly stable during every stroke and turn.
Are there differences in swimming accessories for open water versus a pool?
Yes, natural outdoor conditions require different equipment compared to the controlled environment of a pool.
In open water, a safety buoy is essential to keep you visible to boats and allow you to rest if needed, alongside mirrored or tinted goggles for protection against intense sun glare, and a swim cap in a bright, vivid color (orange, yellow). If the water is cold, a neoprene wetsuit is equally necessary.
In a pool, goggles with clear or light-colored lenses are mostly used due to lower indoor brightness, and the gear is complemented by technical and strength aids, such as kickboards, pull buoys, hand paddles, and swim snorkels.
