What's the difference between ping pong and padel?
The main difference between ping pong and padel lies in the size of the playing area, the equipment, and the style of play. Ping pong is played on a small table with small paddles and lightweight balls, whereas padel is played on a larger court with walls or fences, using bigger rackets without strings and special padel balls. Additionally, ping pong requires quick reactions and small hand movements, while padel combines running, lateral movements, jumping, and teamwork strategy. Choose the ideal sport for you and get ready for epic games with equipment available at decathlon.com.gr!
What equipment do I need to start playing ping pong?
To start playing ping pong, you need the basic equipment: a ping pong table with a flat surface and net, paddles for each player, and 40mm balls suitable for practice or games. It’s also important to have the table support, while optionally you can use paddle cases, training accessories, or shoes with good grip to protect your equipment and enjoy the game comfortably, whether playing alone or with friends!
Is ping pong suitable for kids?
Of course! Ping pong is perfectly suitable for children, as it combines fun, movement, and skill development. It also helps improve coordination, reaction time, focus, and strategic thinking, while providing light aerobic exercise. Ping pong can be played indoors or outdoors, with adapted equipment to ensure it is safe and enjoyable for all ages.
What are the basics rules of ping pong?
The basic rules of ping pong are simple: the goal is to be the first to reach 11 points with a 2-point lead, and if the score is tied at 10–10, play continues until one player achieves a 2-point advantage. The serve must be made by tossing the ball vertically and hitting it over the net to the opponent’s side. After that, players alternate hits without letting the ball bounce twice on their side, trying to react faster and more accurately than their opponent. You score a point when your opponent fails to return the ball correctly or makes a faulty serve. In doubles, players alternate hits with their teammate, while in singles, it’s one-on-one. These rules ensure fair play and can be adapted for children or beginners.
