But without the right equipment, even the best organized tour through the most beautiful and spectacular landscapes is doomed to fail from the start. In addition to a trekking backpack and trekking poles, a good, comfortable tent is indispensable on longer trekking tours.

You should definitely consider the following factors when choosing the right dome tent size: Amount of luggage: The more luggage you have with you on your tour, the larger the tent should be. However, keep in mind that a large trekking dome tent weighs more and is also more difficult to transport. So try to reduce your luggage as much as possible. Number of people: Follow the manufacturer's instructions (1-2, 3 or 4-person tent) and add another person if necessary to have more freedom of movement and/or storage space. Although this makes the trekking dome tent heavier overall, you usually have the option of distributing the tent material over several backpacks if there are several people. * Weather: Keep in mind that the weather also plays an important role in how much space you ultimately need in the trekking tent. If you are forced to spend most of the day in the trekking tent due to bad weather, you will be grateful for the extra space.

In order to withstand external influences such as rain, wind or sunshine, most trekking tents are made of robust plastic materials such as nylon or coated polyester. Be sure to pay attention to quality and longevity! Sufficient waterproofness is of enormous importance, especially for trekking dome tents, so that you don't suddenly "stand in the rain" on bad weather days or in the event of an unexpected shower. The so-called water column indicates how high the water pressure can be on the outer material before moisture penetrates the interior of the tent. An outer dome tent is considered completely waterproof from a water column of around 1,300. The water column of the ultralight camping tent floor should be at least 2,000.
