Do your children want to go sledging or do you want to introduce your baby to snow sports? We'll help you find the right sledge for your needs. The sledge models with a pull cord are particularly suitable for babies who will appreciate the small descents as well as being pulled along, provided they are nice and warm inside their snow suit. Children's tray sledges are recommended for boys and girls under 10 years old (up to 50 kg). They can also have a blast with the shovel sledges, which are also very light and easy to transport. The tray sledges for adults can accommodate a parent and a baby for some great runs as a twosome. Or you can have fun racing with your children. Yooners, snow scooters, parets and inflatable sledges are reserved for those over 12 years old because they require some skill in sledging and braking with your feet. That said, you'll love gliding along on this type of contraption! And of course, there is still the wooden sledge that is everyone's dream sledge. The new wooden sledges can even be folded up for easy transportation and fitted with a seat so that a child can sit on it.

To make the most of your sledging, you need to have the right kit to stay warm and dry. This is even more important for babies who remain stationary on the sledge! The 3-layer technique applies for the whole family. A first layer of warm and breathable thermal base layer for adults and children, a very warm second layer for adults, children and babies, and finally a third waterproof and windproof layer for parents, boys and girls. For sledging, the extremities, i.e. the feet, head and hands, must also have special gear. Beanie to keep babies warm that will stay on their heads, waterproof ski gloves or mittens, and of course, snow boots that insulate the feet from the cold and damp! You will begin going up and down on foot, which will necessarily warm you up between two descents. This is where the hat can be used to regulate your body heat as you take it off going uphill and put it back on when descending. Once the whole family has the gear they need, you will be able to have fun on the toboggan runs!

In addition to the essential protection of the hands with gloves and the head with a helmet, it is important to have good eye protection when tobogganing. Given the strong glare of the UV rays coming off the snow, which can damage the lens of the eye, as well as the risk of drying out the eyes because of the apparent wind generated when you descend a little too fast. This can sometimes cause discomfort. So protecting your eyes is also a safety requirement. Opt for some ski goggles that are easy to attach to your helmet. Then, whether you are on a special toboggan run or just a small slope at the foot of the pistes, you must take care when descending. Keep an eye out for other users and only set off when the way is clear. If you are approaching someone else from above, the rule is the same as if you are on skis: you are responsible for the sledger in front of you because they cannot see you coming. So it's up to you to be careful. If you are letting your child go sledging alone, check beforehand that they can control their sledging device. And, of course, if you are using the special toboggan runs in the ski resort, check and comply with the recommended age and ability level for each run. Snow sports are always more fun when everyone is safe!
