    The Makalu down jacket is filled with a blend of 90% duck down and 10% feathers, with a fill power of 800 cuin (UE standard). The jacket features a 3D-chambered construction to optimise the distribution of the down and improve thermal performance.

    What is the recommended usage temperature for this down jacket?

    This down jacket was tested in a thermal chamber on a mannequin wearing a long-sleeve synthetic t-shirt and a light fleece, with simulated wind at 5 km/h. This test confirmed a comfort temperature of -24°C during moderate activity.

    The down hood is designed to be worn over a mountaineering helmet. The adjustment systems at the front and back of the hood ensure a secure fit.

    What is the purpose of the reinforcements on the forearms?

    The forearm is an area that is put under a great deal of strain during intense activities such as mountaineering. Adding a durable component helps to reduce the risk of abrasion and allows you to use it without worrying about snags or tears.

    Is this jacket water-repellent or waterproof?

    This down jacket has water-repellency. Water-repellency refers to a fabric’s capacity to allow water to run off its surface without being absorbed. This means the textile doesn’t become waterlogged and stays warm. Water-repellency is achieved through a PFC-free treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric, which may wear off with use. We advise you to reactivate it after every wash using a re-activator. In rainy weather, we advise wearing a waterproof jacket over this down jacket.
