In which conditions should you wear full-length socks?
They are recommended for static hunting, low- to medium-intensity use and regular use. For example, for static-watch drive hunting, shooting game birds or stalking in the autumn and winter, these socks will help to keep your feet warm. Since we all feel the cold differently, we recommend them for temperatures between 0 and 10°C, but this can vary from one person to another.
What are these socks made of?
These Merino wool socks are knitted with large plush loops under the foot, and on the calf and shin. The parts between these areas are knitted in medium plush loops of Thermolite synthetic thread to keep your feet warm, even in damp conditions. The toe and heel are reinforced with polyamide thread for greater resistance to wear. The calf, ankle and instep are elasticated: this keeps the socks in place when walking.
The advantages of Merino wool
Merino wool regulates body temperature and wicks away moisture. These qualities make it very comfortable and soft. This material also naturally limits the growth of odour-causing bacteria. In other words, after a physical effort and heavy perspiration, merino wool prevents evaporation and helps to maintain body temperature by absorbing most body moisture. This limits the unpleasant chilling effect.
How do you choose your sock size?
Choose a sock size that fits your foot to avoid any extra creases: if the socks are too big, there will be too much material around your foot and you will not feel comfortable at all; if the socks are too small, they will be "pulled" towards the inside of the shoe, which can lead to rubbing, pain and even blisters during or at the end of your outing.
How to wash your Merino wool socks
We recommend you wash them in the washing machine at 30°, on a normal cycle, preferably with a liquid detergent. We also recommend a maximum spin cycle of 800 revolutions per minute. Dry flat, NEVER in a tumble dryer, unless you want to shrink them by a size or two!
