Dumbbells

Of course! On decathlon.com.gr you will find a wide variety of hand and wrist/ankle weights, ideal for strength training, Pilates, cardio workouts, rehabilitation, as well as for creating your own home gym setup. Our collection includes fixed dumbbells with neoprene or rubber coating, as well as adjustable velcro wrist weights in various sizes and types, allowing you to customize your training to your needs—whether you prefer simple home workouts or more demanding weight training.

The choice depends on your training goals and current fitness level.
0.5–2 kg weights are suitable for absolute beginners or cardio/toning workouts, 2–4 kg weights for basic strength training, while 4–5 kg weights can be used as you start building more strength.
A good rule of thumb is to choose a weight with which you can perform 8–15 repetitions using proper technique, where the last few reps feel challenging yet controlled.
If you want greater versatility, you can also opt for adjustable dumbbells to gradually increase the weight as you progress.

The main difference lies in application and usage.
Hand dumbbells are held in your palms and designed for targeted muscle strength exercises (e.g., bicep curls, shoulder presses).
Wrist weights fasten securely around your wrists (or ankles) using velcro straps, leaving your hands completely free. This makes them ideal for adding extra resistance to dynamic cardio exercises, walking, or Pilates.

Yes, wrist weights are excellent for walking as they increase cardiovascular load and calorie burn without restricting arm movement.
However, caution is advised during high-intensity running; stick to very light weights (0.5kg - 1kg) to avoid altering your natural stride and to prevent unnecessary joint strain on shoulders and elbows.

Dumbbells feature a cast iron or steel core with an outer coating: Neoprene coating offers a soft, comfortable grip that won't slip with sweat, while rubber coating (rubber/PVC) provides maximum impact resistance, easy cleaning, and floor protection against scratches.
Keep in mind that rubber-coated and cast iron dumbbells are considered the most durable over time!

Hand dumbbells allow you to perform a wide range of full-body exercises!
1. Bicep curls & Tricep extensions: For arm conditioning.
2. Shoulder presses & Front raises: For strengthening the shoulder girdle.
3. Dumbbell Squats & Lunges: For adding resistance to lower-body training.
4. Dumbbell rows: For targeting back muscles.
