To choose the model that best suits you, you should take into account several criteria: level of practice, athlete weight, brand... The size of your SUP board also determines how much weight the SUP board can support. SUP boards that are shorter than 2.75 meters are called short SUP boards. Short SUP boards are ideal for fast turns and are also often used for surfing. However, most SUP boards are medium in length, i.e. between 2.75m and 3.50m. We recommend that beginners take a look around this area. Medium-length sap boards offer good stability, which is especially important in the beginning. SUP boards are also characterized by their speed and flexibility. Longer pieces include the 3.50 meter long SUP boards. These are also the fastest. If you want to go on long trips with your SUP board and also want to create a certain level of speed, we recommend such a SUP board. However, long SUP boards are less versatile due to their elongated design. By the way: SUP board dimensions are usually given in "feet" and "inches". For reference: a foot is 30.48 cm long, while an inch is 2.54 cm long. So one foot is equal to 12 inches.

Inflatable SUP boards or inflatable SUPs are made of polyurethane and can be easily inflated using a SUP air pump, similar to an air mattress. However, SUP boards have absolutely nothing in common with an air mattress, as the SUP board cover is extremely tear-resistant and sturdy. Once you've inflated your sapboard, it's so hard that it's hardly distinguishable from a solid board. It is estimated that 95 to 99% of all SUPs sold are inflatable SUP boards. This is not surprising, as SUP boards are easy to store, extremely space-saving and easy to transport. Even without a car, you can take your SUP board to the lake at any time. Inflatable SUPs are ideal for both beginners and advanced users.
Hard boards are also called rigid SUP boards and can be made from wood, polyethylene, polyester, carbon, AST, ASA, HDPE or epoxy. Due to the high quality materials and complicated transportation, the price for a rigid SUP board is usually higher than for an inflatable SUP board. However, a hard shell paddle board may be worth it to you if you are already a professional stand-up paddler. When it comes to navigational features, these SUP boards still have a slight advantage over inflatable SUP boards.
