What is ZIPROTEC?
At Decathlon, we make it easy to protect your children. Thanks to the Ziprotec system, the jacket and the back protector vest (DBCK 500 JR) form a single piece.
It’s simple and effective:
- An internal zip and fastening at the back secure the protective liner directly inside the jacket.
- No oversights: If your child is wearing their jacket, they are automatically protected against impacts.
- The back protector stays perfectly in place. It follows their movements without ever riding up.
How can you prevent the snow from getting in?
This skiing and snowboarding jacket keeps out all cold air and snow:
- Back: A long cut and a snow skirt to keep you dry, even after a fall.
- Cuffs: Thumb-loop cuffs to prevent snow from getting in.
- Neck: High-necked, gusseted collar and adjustable hood (helmet-compatible) for all-round protection.
Is this jacket warm?
To provide optimal thermal comfort without restricting movement, this jacket uses two types of wadding:
- Body: Thick insulation (150 g/m²) combined with a fleece lining.
- Sleeves: A lighter 100 g/m² wadding to ensure excellent freedom of movement on the slopes.
Is this jacket waterproof?
In addition to the waterproof fabric, we enhance the waterproofing with watertight seams. These are heat-bonded waterproof strips placed on the seams inside the clothing to make it perfectly watertight.
All the seams on this jacket are 100% watertight.
The hood is rolled under the helmet
If you fall, the neck is often the first place where the cold gets in. We’ve designed a clever system to turn the hood into a proper barrier:
- Fold the hood into quarters.
- Fasten the hook and loop strip: It then stays in place at the top and fills the gap beneath the helmet.
- Firmly fasten the collar all the way up to secure it tightly.
Does the hood fit over a helmet?
To withstand strong winds or snowfall, the hood has been specifically designed to fit over a helmet.
It’s very simple:
Open the neckline by about 10 cm.
Pull the hood over your helmet.
Close the neckline using the hook and loop fastening.
How should you dress your kids to ensure they don't get cold on the slopes?
To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-technical-layer rule:
- Layer 1 or a second skin, to stay dry.
- Layer 2 or an insulating layer, to keep the heat in.
- Layer 3 or a protective layer to protect against the elements.
How to wash the jacket?
To optimise your jacket's performance, we advise the following:
- Machine wash at 30°C.
- Synthetic cycle.
- Turn the item inside out.
- Use a small amount of washing powder. No softener.
Wring by hand.
Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place.
Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator. You can restore the water resistance of the outer fabric using a fabric waterproofing spray.
