What’s the background to its development?
Entirely designed in the Simond R&D centre, at the heart of the Chamonix valley, in collaboration with passionate and demanding trekkers.
It was crucial to create a product that can be fully disassembled and repaired so that it will accompany you on your treks for as long as possible. We have patented this pole’s ability to be entirely taken apart in order to replace its parts.
Why is compactness crucial?
A trek is a big adventure that involves various types of terrain. This 5-section folding design is ideal when you need to quickly take out or store your poles. Once folded, this pair of poles easily fits into the side pocket of your backpack (36.5cm).
How was the handle of this ultralight pole developed?
This pole features an EVA foam handle, which is very hard-wearing and ideal for perspiration management.
The grip extension under the handle offers unrivalled comfort for steep ascents or sloping terrain.
The pommel also ensures very good grip from above and incorporates a plastic ring under the foam to prevent distortion.
How to adjust your poles to the correct length?
Firstly, extend the pole until the “click” of the push-pin. To adjust the length: the forearm holding the pole should be bent at 90°.
Open the outer lever, and then slide the tube to the desired length.
Close the lever again and ensure you never go past the STOP line to avoid breaking the pole.
Why have we specifically focused on these poles’ strength?
You go trekking to enjoy the great outdoors, independently and sometimes far away from civilisation.
The sections are made of 100% carbon fibre for increased rigidity and lightness.
The lower section consists of aluminium to ensure greater impact resistance on technical terrain.
What are the other technical features of this pole?
When developing this pole, we focused on the details.
- The wrist strap is therefore detachable: you can slide the cord to unlock it.
- The push-pin system has also been reworked: it is more ergonomic, to make it easier to handle and avoid getting your fingers caught.
- The cord used to lock the pole is made of Dyneema for greater durability.
