What makes this jacket waterproof?
The waterproof rating is tested according to the JIS 1092 standard. To do so, the fabric is submitted to a water pressure measured in mm of water column: the higher the value, the better. In concrete terms, a 5,000mm (Schmerbers) rating corresponds to one hour of protection from a rain shower. Performance certified before washing.
Why wear a windproof jacket?
A waterproof fabric is also windproof. The coating that blocks out water also stops draughts. A key factor when hiking, as the wind considerably intensifies the feeling of cold, whether you are exerting yourself or at rest.
Why a breathable jacket?
The Thermal Evaporative Resistance (RET) indicates how the fabric allows the body water vapour to escape. The lower the value, the better! With a RET value of 12, this jacket wicks away perspiration efficiently. Scale: <6 = extremely breathable, <12 = highly breathable, <20 = breathable, >20 = not very breathable.
