After several years of experimentation, Decathlon is replacing its entire range of cast iron products with recycled cast iron, made of at least 80% iron and steel waste - a great feat in the metal world! To ensure the quality is equivalent to standard cast iron, tests are conducted in partner laboratories.

This approach reduces the need for extracting new raw materials, uses 40% to 95% less energy, and cuts CO2 emissions by at least 10% compared to virgin metals. Recycled metal comes from the recycling of scrap metal. After a process of sorting, cleaning, and crushing, the scrap metal is melted and refined to obtain a material of comparable quality to virgin metal.
