Can I find fitness mats available on decathlon.com.gr?

Of course! On decathlon.com.gr you will find a huge variety of fitness mats designed for yoga, Pilates, cardio workouts, cross-training, and stretching at home or in the gym. Our collection includes thin non-slip yoga mats, thick shock-absorbing Pilates mats, folding mats, as well as easy-to-carry travel mats.

What thickness of fitness mat do I need?

The ideal thickness depends on your workout type and the level of joint protection required!
Thin mats (1mm - 4mm): Ideal for yoga and balance exercises, as they offer stable grounding contact with the floor without letting your feet sink.
Medium thickness (5mm - 8mm): A versatile option for general workouts, aerobics, and mild floor exercises.
Thick mats (10mm - 15mm+): Essential for Pilates and recovery exercises, providing maximum cushioning and protection for your spine, elbows, and knees.

Which mat is suitable for yoga and which for Pilates?

The main difference lies in grip and cushioning:
For Yoga, you need a thin mat (3mm-5mm) with exceptional non-slip grip so your hands and feet do not slide during static or dynamic poses (asanas).
For Pilates, a thicker and softer mat (10mm-15mm) is ideal to cushion your back, tailbone, and knees during floor routines and rolling exercises.

Does the fitness mat slide on the floor?

Decathlon mats feature a specially textured bottom surface that ensures excellent traction on tile, wood, or laminate flooring. For maximum stability without sliding, opt for mats made of TPE material or natural rubber, which grip firmly to the ground even during high-intensity sessions.

What materials are the mats made of (TPE, NBR, PVC) and what changes?

The manufacturing material determines the durability, weight, and feel of the mat:
NBR (Nitrile Rubber): Ultra-soft, foamy, and thick material, excellent for comfort in Pilates, but less resistant to heavy footwear.
TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer): Eco-friendly, lightweight, hypoallergenic material with superior non-slip feel and high durability.
PVC: Highly durable for frequent use and easy to clean, suitable for daily workouts.

How do I clean and store my fitness mat?

To keep your mat clean and long-lasting, proper care is key!
Wipe it down after every workout using a damp cloth with mild soap or a dedicated mat cleaning spray. Avoid harsh chemicals and do not put it in the washing machine.
Allow it to air dry naturally before rolling it up, away from direct sunlight.
To store it, roll it loosely with the top side facing outward (to prevent creasing) and secure it using the elastic carrying straps.
