TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS
Waterproofing:
The exclusive Beaufort 2L+ component is guaranteed to keep you dry even under torrential rain. Thanks to its component but also its shape and the quality of its construction, in the rain simulator, your Offshoroa salopettes spent 4 hours under the equivalent of a 300 L/hr/sqm downpour without the tiniest drop seeping through. The component's waterproofing is guaranteed to more than 10,000 mm of water pressure. All seams are fully taped.
What is a waterproofing test or "shower test"?
Approved test where the garment is placed under a shower simulating different weather conditions. All of our products are certified 100% waterproof, having been tested for 4+ hours in rain of 300 L/hr/sqm to 450 L/hr/sqm, depending on the product use. To put this into perspective, the highest recorded rain fall was in the USA in 1942, when 174 L/hr/sqm fell over 4.5 hours (NOAA). The average rainfall in Paris is 2 L/hr/sqm (www.Paris.fr)
Salopette fastening:
The injection-moulded plastic central zip is resistant to corrosion from salt water thanks to the special shape of the teeth. This, combined with an inside flap, ensures the salopettes stay perfectly waterproof.
Reinforcements:
The knee, seat, and heel reinforcements are made of an abrasion and wear resistant component that strengthens the waterproofing of these vulnerable areas.
Salopette waistband:
The waist of the Offshoroa Salopettes is adjustable with semi-elasticated rip-tabs.
Storage:
The large cargo pocket on the right thigh has a letterbox fastening and a storm cord which allows you to keep your equipment safe.
End seals:
The ankles are adjustable with rip-tab straps to limit water entry.
Hand warmer pockets:
Two wide chest pockets closed by injected zips are lined with 240 g fleece pockets to keep your hands nice and warm and under cover.
Visibility:
A large reflective 3M patch on the back intensifies low light sources. The Tribord logos are also reflective.
Water repellent component:
The water repellency of your Offshoroa Salopettes is obtained by applying a treatment to its surface. This treatment causes water to slide over the surface without soaking in. This prevents the component from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight, breathable, and warm. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime. Our ranges offer products for this purpose or solutions can be found on the care instructions on how to reactivate your salopettes' water repellent treatment
How important is windproofing?
Protection from the wind is very important, as wind can chill the body significantly whether you are active or at rest. According to the "wind chill" model, which measures how the air temperature feels when factoring in the wind and cold: at a temperature of 5°C combined with winds of 30 km/h, the temperature felt will be 0°C. If the air temperature is 0°C and wind speed is 40 km/h, the temperature felt will be -7°C. Your Offshoroa salopettes help to counter the windchill effect.
What is a waterproof and breathable HYDROPHILIC membrane?
The membrane works in stages to wick away perspiration. Firstly, the fabric absorbs water vapour until it is saturated. Then, due to the difference in pressure between inside and outside the jacket, the fabric disperses the water vapour outwards. The main advantage of the hydrophilic membrane is that it does not contain pores; consequently, there is no need to constantly rinse the fabric to wash off any salt water crystals. Breathability therefore remains constant over time.
