How is the waterproofing level of these trousers measured?
We measure the durability of a fabric with the water pressure of a water column expressed in mm (based on the JIS1092B and ISO 811 Standards).
The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric.
These trousers feature a waterproof rating of 20,000 mm H2O (Schmerbers), JIS1092B Standard, and effectively protect a user faced with three hours of storms.
How is the breathability of the trousers measured?
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard).
The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape and the higher the fabric's breathability.
As a rule of thumb:
RET < 9 = highly breathable fabric
9 < RET < 12 = breathable fabric
RET > 12 = low breathability
The fabric of these trousers has a RET of 12.
How many pockets do these Wilder ski trousers have?
The two waterproof pockets at the thighs allow you to store your phone and keep it as far away as possible from your AVD (avalanche victim detector).
Remember to put your phone on Flight mode to reduce interference with the AVD.
What accessories do these Wilder trousers have?
The trousers feature a removable top for optimal support when handling knives, bindings and skins. It also prevents snow from getting inside.
It also has removable braces.
Finally, stretchy gaiters prevent snow from entering by being positioned over your ski boots.
How to use the zipped air vents
During the ascent, open the vents on the outside of the thighs to prevent perspiration.
Before going downhill, don’t forget to close them again to prevent the wind from getting in and making you cold.
What is the RECCO® system?
All of our cross-country ski jackets and trousers are equipped with the RECCO® system.
With RECCO® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche.
Thanks to RECCO® reflectors, a buried person can quickly and easily be located with the RECCO® detector.
RECCO® reflectors are not a substitute for an AVD. The RECCO® technology works as a complementary measure, increasing the chances of being found in time.
