How is the water resistance of a jacket measured?
We measure the durability of a fabric in terms of its ability to withstand the water pressure of a water column expressed in mm (based on the JIS1092B and ISO 811 Standards).
The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric.
This jacket has a waterproof rating of 20,000 mm H2O (Schmerbers), JIS1092B Standard, and effectively protects a user faced with three hours of storms.
How is the breathability of the jacket measured?
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard).
The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape and the higher the fabric's breathability.
As a rule of thumb:
RET < 9 = highly breathable fabric
9 < RET < 12 = breathable fabric
RET > 12 = low breathability
In this case, the fabric of this jacket has a RET of 10.
What are the features of the hood?
Thanks to its volume, it can be worn over a cross-country ski helmet.
It is height- and depth-adjustable to adjust the volume according to your needs (with or without a helmet).
Its semi-rigid visor protects your forehead and eyes.
The high collar protects the face.
How many pockets does the Wilder ski jacket have?
- Two large outer zipped pockets for storing skins. They are strategically placed on the chest to make it easier to wear a harness.
- One inner zip pocket, ideal for storing a phone.
How do you use the zipped air vents?
Use the vents at the armpits to avoid overheating during the ascent, and remember to close them again for the descent to prevent the wind from getting in and making you cold. This allows you to enjoy the jacket throughout your session, without having to remove it.
How do you use the snow skirt?
The snow skirt is your best ally to enjoy fresh snow without getting wet.
It prevents snow from entering from underneath your jacket.
If the snow has not fallen for several days, it can easily be removed thanks to its zip fastening.
What is the RECCO® system?
All of our cross-country ski jackets and trousers are equipped with the RECCO® system.
With RECCO® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche.
Thanks to the RECCO® reflectors, a buried person can quickly and easily be located with the RECCO® detector.
RECCO® reflectors are not a substitute for an AVD. The RECCO® technology works as a complementary measure, increasing the chances of being found in time.
What is the fit of the Wilder waterproof ski jacket?
The jacket has a slightly loose cut so you can wear it over a insulating layer.
The elbows are preformed to facilitate arm movements.
The hood follows your head movements so as not to limit your field of vision on descents.
How do you look after your waterproof jacket?
Machine-wash the jacket at 30°C after closing the zips and wrist adjustments.
Use a liquid detergent and no fabric softener.
How to restore the jacket's water-repellent properties?
With each wash, renew the fabric’s water-repellent properties using a suitable treatment.
