The FR500 trousers are equipped with RECCO® technology to improve search and rescue in the event of an avalanche.
RECCO® technology is used in the majority of ski resorts and increases the chances of being located in the event of an avalanche. The reflector, which is built into the jacket, can be located by rescue services via a detector. Although they do the same job, they should not replace an avalanche transceiver.

Waterproof (15,000 mm Schmerbers) and tested in real-life conditions.
The waterproof component and the assembly prevent water getting in. The seams are waterproof, and the zips are also waterproof and under a protective flap. This jacket has been tested in a special shower that reproduces the conditions of the ski resorts, and in the field for several days in different weather conditions.
Water-repellent, like all Quechua / Wedze trousers.
A fabric's water-repellent property is its ability to let water slide off its surface without soaking in. The fabric doesn’t soak up water and so remains lightweight, breathable and warm. It is made from a treatment on the outside of the fabric, which must be renewed (every 3 washes).
Warm trousers without compromising on breathability.
The three-layer fabric is made with light padding (100 g/sqm) that provides warmth only where necessary.
Breathable fabric and ventilation (essential for good breathability).
The RET, or the evaporative resistance of the material (ISO 11092 Standard), is 12. The lower this rating, the more water vapour generated by the body evaporates.
RET < 9 = extremely breathable
9 < RET < 12 = highly breathable
12 < RET < 20 = breathable
RET > 20 = little or low breathability.
The FR500 ski trousers are made with a lined fabric.
This is a very thin polyurethane film that makes the material waterproof while remaining breathable. More flexible, lightweight, resistant and often more breathable than coating, which is less expensive and requires a protective lining, similar to paint applied to the inside of the fabric.

What should you wear under your ski trousers?
You don't need to wear anything under these padded trousers. However, in very cold weather, you can wear a breathable thermal base layer (known as a layer 1).
How can you reactivate the water repellency of your ski trousers?
The water repellency of your trousers should be reactivated regularly (every 3 washes): over time, even though they remain waterproof thanks to the fabric used, they seem to start absorbing water. To do this, use a reactivating spray or a treatment reapplication product, and follow the tutorial in the customer service section of our website.
Wash and/or dry your ski trousers: following a specific protocol, you can improve its lifespan.
Close the zips, loosen the ties and read the instructions on the label. You can use a tumble dryer or leave to air dry, and finish off by using the hair dryer for five minutes (the heat helps with waterproofing).
