Can I find gym towels available at decathlon.com.gr?

Of course! At decathlon.com.gr you will find a wide variety of gym towels in various sizes, colors, and materials, designed to cover all your training needs. We offer highly absorbent microfiber towels that take up minimal space, soft cotton towels, as well as smart non-slip towels for stability on gym equipment and mats, which you can pair perfectly with a gym water bottle or a gym bag for a complete set!

What size gym towel do I need?

The ideal size depends purely on how you want to use it. A small towel (around 42x55 cm) is perfect for wiping sweat off your face during exercise, while a medium towel (around 50x90 cm or 60x80 cm) is the most popular choice for covering equipment pads and benches. If you need it for showering after workout, for a yoga mat, or for the pool, then a large towel (80x130 cm or larger) will provide the full coverage you are looking for.

Microfiber or cotton gym towel?

The choice between a microfiber towel and a cotton towel depends on your priorities. A microfiber towel is extremely lightweight, takes up minimal space in your bag, absorbs a lot of water, and dries in record time, making it the ultimate choice for the gym. On the other hand, a cotton towel offers a much softer, fluffier, and more familiar feel against the skin, but it is bulkier and takes longer to dry.

How fast does a microfiber towel dry?

Microfiber towels dry up to 3 to 4 times faster than traditional cotton towels, thanks to the special composition of their synthetic fibers that do not retain moisture internally. If you hang it up in a well-ventilated area or in the breeze, it can dry completely in just a few minutes, allowing you to quickly pack it back into your bag without fear of mildew.

How do I wash my gym towel so it doesn't smell?

To keep your towel fresh and free of unpleasant odors, the most important step is to never leave it folded and damp inside your bag after training, but to hang it up immediately. Machine wash it at 30°C-40°C using a mild detergent and avoid fabric softeners, as they create a film on the fibers that reduces absorbency and traps odors. For deep cleaning, you can add a little white vinegar to the softener compartment.

Which towel is suitable for yoga and which for the shower?

For yoga, floor exercises, or use on gym equipment, a non-slip microfiber towel is ideal, as it features a special texture that stabilizes onto mats, floors, or machine surfaces so you don't slip during exercises. Conversely, for showering after your workout, most people prefer a large cotton towel or an XL soft-textured microfiber towel for maximum comfort and quick whole-body drying.
