Can I find rowing machines & ergometers available on decathlon.com.gr?

Of course! On decathlon.com.gr you will find a wide variety of rowing machines and ergometers, suitable for home use, cardio workouts, fat loss, and full-body conditioning. Our collection includes compact magnetic rowers for quiet workouts, air rowers for dynamic resistance, as well as connected models featuring interactive workout applications.

Which muscles does a rowing machine target?

The rowing machine provides one of the most comprehensive full-body workouts, activating approximately 85% of your body's muscle groups:
Lower body (60% of the drive): Dynamically engages quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, and calves during the drive phase.
Core (20% of the drive): The latissimus dorsi, lower back, abs, and deep core muscles stabilize the torso.
Upper body (20% of the drive): Exercises the upper back, shoulders, biceps, triceps, and forearms while pulling the handle.

What is the difference between magnetic, air, and water rowing machines?

The resistance type defines both the feel and noise level of your workout:
Magnetic rower: Features fixed resistance adjustable in levels, delivering an ultra-quiet and smooth glide ideal for apartments.
Air rower: Resistance naturally increases the harder you pull the handle. It offers the most dynamic feel, widely used in cross-training, but produces more sound.
Water rower: Uses paddles inside a water tank, offering an authentic on-water rowing feel along with the soothing sound of rushing water.

How do I perform proper rowing technique without hurting my lower back?

The proper movement sequence protects your spine and maximizes efficiency!
You start by driving hard through your legs, then leaning your torso slightly backward (1:00 angle), and finally pulling the handle toward your lower chest.
For the recovery phase, extend your arms forward, hinge your torso slightly forward (11:00 angle), and then bend your knees to slide back to the starting position.
Always maintain a straight back without rounding your shoulders, keeping them relaxed away from your ears.

What metrics does an ergometer measure (watt, split, SPM)?

The ergometer display provides precise data to track your performance:
SPM (Strokes Per Minute): The number of strokes per minute, indicating your movement cadence and speed (typically 20-30 SPM).
Split / 500m: The time required to cover 500 meters, reflecting your effort intensity.
Watts: The power output generated with each stroke, representing your true mechanical force.
Calories & Distance: Total energy expended and meters traveled.

Does a rowing machine fold and store easily?

Yes, almost all Decathlon home rowing machines are designed for space-saving convenience, making them ideal for your home gym! They feature a folding mechanism along the slide rail or allow vertical upright storage, occupying less than 0.5 sq.m. of floor space. Additionally, they feature built-in transport wheels so you can easily move them around your home.
