Men's Cargo Pants

Men's cargo trousers are rugged pants primarily characterized by large, spacious pockets located on the sides of the thighs (cargo pockets). They have military origins, but today they constitute the ultimate piece for casual and streetwear looks, daily city activities, traveling, manual work, as well as any kind of outdoor excursion where practicality is paramount.

At Decathlon, our brands' cargo trousers are designed with freedom of movement in mind. To find the right size, use a measuring tape at the waist level where you usually wear your pants and consult the size guide on the product page. It is important to also take the fit of the cargo pants into consideration, as many feature a regular to straight cut so they won't restrict you when sitting or hiking. If you find yourself between two sizes, prefer the larger one, especially if the trousers feature an integrated belt or elastic inserts at the waist for easy adjustment.

Absolutely! In reality, Decathlon's cargo trousers are specifically designed for demanding hikes. The large side pockets allow you to have direct access to maps, a compass, snacks, or your phone without having to take off your backpack. Additionally, they feature reinforced seams and double fabric at the knees and seat area for maximum durability against abrasion from rocks.

The materials vary depending on the intended use of the trousers. For those specifically designed for Hiking, a smart combination of durable polyester, stretchy elastane (for freedom of movement), and reinforced cotton with a Ripstop weave is used. The Ripstop weave prevents the fabric from tearing further if it catches on something. Also, many models are manufactured from organic cotton or recycled polyester, reducing the environmental footprint without any compromise on the garment's durability.

Cargo trousers are made to endure, but proper care extends their lifespan. Empty all cargo pockets, close all zippers, buttons, or hook-and-loop fasteners, and turn the pants inside out. Wash them in the washing machine on a regular cycle for cottons or synthetics at 30°C or 40°C with standard detergent. Do not use excessive fabric softener, especially if the trousers feature a technical, water-repellent coating, as it can clog the fabric fibers. Air-dry them in a shaded area, and if you use a tumble dryer, select a gentle program with a low temperature to avoid any shrinkage in the cotton sections.
