If you don't have a pump with you, the easiest and most effortless way is to use a Decathlon pump bag. This is a lightweight, waterproof bag that connects to the mattress valve: you open it to trap ambient air, close the top, and roll or press it with your hands, transferring the air inside the mattress in just 2-3 movements. Avoid inflating the mattress with your mouth, as moisture from your breath will get trapped inside, reducing its thermal insulation performance and promoting mold growth.
If, on the other hand, you want to avoid the extra weight of a pump entirely, you can choose a self-inflating camping mattress, which, as the name implies, inflates on its own without needing a pump.

The difference lies in their internal construction, comfort, and insulation. An inflatable mattress consists solely of air chambers, offers generous thickness (sleeping comfort), and packs down into a small volume, but it requires a pump to inflate and provides less insulation from the cold ground. On the other hand, a self-inflating mattress contains a special open-cell foam interior. Once you open the valve, the foam expands automatically and draws in 80-90% of the air on its own, providing a more stable sleeping surface and significantly better thermal insulation.

Inflatable camping mattresses from Quechua and Forclaz are manufactured from reinforced materials (such as TPU or high-Denier polyester) and are engineered to withstand abrasion and usage inside the tent. However, like all inflatable items, they are not indestructible. To prevent punctures, always thoroughly clear the ground beneath the tent of sharp rocks, branches, or thorns, and use a groundsheet protector.

Repairing it is a very simple process that can be done wherever you are. Locate the leak by inflating the mattress and applying soapy water to it; small bubbles will begin to emerge at the source of the puncture. Dry the mattress thoroughly and clean the area around the hole with a bit of rubbing alcohol to remove any oils. Then, use Decathlon's specialized adhesive repair patches. Cut a piece, peel off the protective backing, and press it firmly over the puncture for 30 seconds—your mattress is immediately ready for use again.
