Are spearfishing bags & nets available on decathlon.com.gr?

Yes, on decathlon.com.gr you will find a comprehensive range of spearfishing equipment bags and nets for your catch or your accessories. Our collection includes waterproof dry bags, durable backpacks with special slots for your long fins and spearguns, as well as spacious long bags that fit all your wet gear without making a mess in your car.

What bag size do I need to fit spearfishing equipment?

Spearfishing gear is bulky and has a unique shape, due to the long blades of the fins, therefore you need a bag with specific specifications:
Capacity in liters: For a full set of gear (neoprene wetsuit, mask, snorkel, weight belt, socks, gloves, and accessories), a bag ranging from 90 to 120 liters is the ideal choice.
Bag length: This is the most critical feature. Freediving fins usually have a length of 85 to 100 centimeters. Therefore, the bag or backpack you choose must be at least 100 centimeters (1 meter) long, so that the zipper closes securely without bending or deforming your blades.

Can I use any bag to transport diving equipment?

It is not recommended, as regular bags or simple sports backpacks will get damaged very quickly and cause you problems. Diving equipment is heavy and, above all, wet with saltwater after the dive. Specialized diving bags are made of waterproof, thick PVC or Tarpaulin that does not rot from moisture, feature reinforced seams for heavy loads, and come with a drain plug to empty out the water, keeping the trunk of your car completely dry.

How do I properly care for my waterproof spearfishing bags after use?

Proper maintenance prevents unpleasant odors and material corrosion. After every fishing trip, empty the bag and rinse it thoroughly inside and out with fresh water. Sand and fish blood or mucus must be removed immediately, just like salt, which is the number one enemy of zippers. Rinse them well and, if the zippers feel stiff, you can apply a bit of special silicone spray or wax to make them slide smoothly. Let the bag dry completely with all zippers and lids open, in a shaded and well-ventilated area, upside down so that all water droplets drain out. Never store it damp and do not leave it in the hot sun, as mold will develop and the waterproof seams of the material will deteriorate.
