How much extra warmth do these glove liners provide?
Worn underneath waterproof over-gloves, they will provide 6°C of extra warmth when active.
Worn under mittens/fingerless gloves, they will provide 3°C of warmth when active.
These glove liners are ideal for wearing on their own in mild temperatures of around 8°C and above.
We recommend wearing these glove liners with gloves over the top for better protection.
How is usage temperature measured?
All our gloves are tested using a thermal hand in a laboratory to determine their warmth. The results are based on a study carried out on a panel of 23 testers walking in temperatures ranging from 10°C to -20°C with a wind speed of 10 km/h. These temperatures are only valid in walking conditions.
How to properly protect your hands from the cold
By applying the layering principle, you can optimise the insulation of your hands. Consequently, by wearing liner gloves in addition to gloves, several air gaps are created around your hands, which provide effective insulation from the cold. To achieve this, the gloves must be big enough not to compress your fingers. This is because the compression slows down the blood flow in the fingers, which prevents them from keeping warm.
How to keep your hands warm with the right clothing
When active, the body generates heat which is preserved thanks to the thermal insulation of your clothing. If the clothing is inadequate, your body cools and the blood flow to the hands and feet drops in order to keep your upper body warm. Your clothing can therefore play a role in keeping your hands warm.
Where does the Merino wool come from?
We use wool from merino sheep bred on farms in South Africa that do not practise mulesing.
We have partnered with a group of farmers (Konsortium Merino).
How to maintain your merino wool liner gloves
We recommend washing your Merino wool glove liners in a washing machine at 30°C on a normal cycle, preferably with a liquid detergent.
Dry them on a flat surface, but don’t put them on a heat source. This could damage the fibre and make them lose their shape.
Never put them in the tumble dryer.
