Diving Masks

Choosing the right mask relies on perfect watertightness and comfort for your facial structure. The best way to test the fit is the suction test:
Place the mask on your face without putting the strap behind your head. Inhale gently through your nose and let go with your hands. If the mask stays "stuck" to your face purely through suction without falling off, then it offers a perfect fit and seal.
Tip: Make sure the silicone skirt is soft, does not press between your eyebrows or under your nose, and does not sit on the roots of your hair.

Although they look similar, they have different designs and intended uses. A diving mask features a flexible nose pocket that allows you to pinch your nose to equalize pressure in your ears as you dive deeper. The lenses are made of tempered glass for resistance to high underwater pressure and safety in case of breakage.
A snorkeling mask (Surface / Full Face) is designed exclusively for surface viewing. Classic snorkeling masks or full-face masks, such as the best-selling Easybreath masks, offer a huge field of vision and comfortable breathing through the nose and mouth, but are not suitable for deep diving as they do not allow for pressure equalization.

An anti-fog mask is a mask equipped with a special factory coating or lens technology that prevents condensation buildup.
In modern masks (like Subea models with an anti-fog film), the protection prevents fogging during your dive. The factory coating lasts a long time, as long as you do not scratch or rub the inside of the lenses.
To maintain this protection, it is very important to always rinse the mask with fresh water after use. If the coating weakens over time, you can apply a special anti-fog spray or gel before diving.

For freediving and spearfishing, a frameless mask is considered the ideal choice. In frameless masks, the silicone is molded directly onto the lens. This reduces the distance between your eyes and the glass, requiring significantly less air from your lungs to equalize the pressure inside the mask as you go deeper. Additionally, because the lenses sit closer to your eyes, they offer a wider field of vision.

For young underwater explorers, Decathlon recommends the Subea mask and set range (such as the Subea 100 or 500 mask in size S), as well as the innovative Easybreath mask for kids.
Choose masks with clear polycarbonate/tempered glass lenses & silicone, which offer a hypoallergenic, extremely soft fit that won't irritate sensitive young skin, paired with a textile strap that doesn't pull hair and ensures easy fitting.
