How to convert the REVERSLIDE into a sledge and backpack
This product can be converted into a backpack or a sledge thanks to its modular parts:
- In backpack mode: clipped straps.
The adjustable shoulder straps and waist belt make it comfortable to carry. The sledge container can carry everything you need (helmet, goggles, gloves, jacket, snacks and water bottle).
- In sledge mode: clipped handle.
You're ready to sledge. The backpack straps and your small belongings are stored in the shell.
What do you need for the uphill phase of sledge hiking with the REVERSLIDE backpack sledge?
When climbing:
- Snowshoes (max. L: 60cm, max. W: 21cm)
- 3-section telescopic poles, to be able to store them in the bag when descending
- A jacket, a pair of ski trousers or a ski suit
- Base layers
- A pair of ski boots or spare shoes for the après-ski
How should you equip yourself for sledding?
Your equipment for the descent:
- A leash to attach to your waist and the sledge.
- A ski helmet
- A ski map
- Ski gloves
- A pair of gaiters to limit snow getting in at the lower legs.
What are the glide qualities of the REVERSLIDE sledge?
The Decathlon backpack sled's glide performance is ensured by the sliding surface and curvature of the shell.
Directional runners allow you to sledge in a straight line.
What are the trajectory control features of the REVERSLIDE sledge?
For turns, the curves of the REVERSLIDE sledge on the sides make it easier to control the trajectory.
To turn, use the pressure of your feet and your body (weight and shoulders).
The curves of the shell let you slalom.
How to slow down and brake with the REVERSLIDE sledge
To slow down, it is important to keep your feet parallel to the slope and to "brake" by pressing both feet into the snow.
To brake, you can also use a 90° turn.
Throw yourself from the sledge for an emergency stop.
Why use a leash with the REVERSLIDE sledge?
We recommend using a leash attached to the sledge and your waist to keep it close to hand if you fall. It also lets you tow the sledge, if needed.
Is this sled suitable for kids?
More technical than a regular sled, this one is recommended for kids over 14 years old (height between 1.60 m and 1.90 m), so they can really enjoy the ride. The sled can also hold an adult and child over 3 years old, provided the total weight doesn’t exceed 100 kg.
