Folding Bikes

The folding bike is not only the most environmentally friendly and cost-effective, but also the fastest means of transport to get from A to B in the city. At least in turbulent rush hour traffic, two-wheelers are clearly ahead of cars, buses and the like. Another plus point: the often nerve-wracking search for a parking space is no longer necessary. One more reason to leave the car at home and pedal more often instead. A folding bike which has long been considered purely a fad, is a perfect, sustainable addition to your own car or public transport. At the same time, they impress with modern and excellent equipment in combination with a trendy design.

A folding bike is a particularly light bicycle that was designed primarily for trips in the city and can be folded or folded several times if necessary and then transported very comfortably, regardless of whether on trains, buses and trains, in the trunk of a car, on boats and yachts on the plane. In order to meet this purpose, a folding bike is equipped with a folding mechanism, but it also differs from “normal” bikes in terms of their tires. Their diameter is usually between 16 and 20 inches, which roughly corresponds to the tire size of a children's bike, but ensures that the folding bike is more manoeuvrable... a feature that is particularly useful in narrow streets and alleys. Because of the rather low entry and the lack of a top tube, the frame of a typical folding bike is very reminiscent of that of a city women's bike. What was characteristic of the first folding bikes - in addition to their spartan features - was the supposedly poor quality and workmanship of the materials. In the 70s and 80s, the folding bike was laughed at and viewed as a “trendy” but still inferior bike. Modern folding bikes, on the other hand, impress with high-quality equipment and innovative bicycle technology: reliable gear shifting, a lighting system and a sturdy luggage rack or even an electric drive are now standard on many folding bikes. For a particularly high level of comfort and easy transport, the fork and frame are usually made of robust, lightweight materials (such as aluminium).

Folding bikes are the perfect means of transport for those who don't want to do without their own bike but still want to remain as flexible as possible. A good folding bike can be folded up and compressed to a third of its original size without much effort. Therefore it is the perfect everyday companion for... commuters who rely on buses, trains or cars to get to work, but would like to cycle part of the route. In the event that the weather changes drastically during the day - and, for example, a rain shower arrives - you also have the option of spontaneously switching to public transport. In most cases, the folding bike can be taken along free of charge, like a piece of luggage. All those who don't have a garage or a basement and therefore have difficulty storing a normal bicycle at home. After all, a folding bike takes up very little space, even when folded. Travellers who are planning a city trip or camping holiday (for example, to be able to drive into the city centre or to the bakery without a car). Seniors who want to remain mobile in everyday life benefit from both the low weight and the low entry of common folding bikes.
