How is buoyancy guaranteed?
This life vest was designed in accordance with EN ISO 12402-5. It therefore has the same characteristics as a buoyancy aid with a performance level of 50 Newtons. Like all buoyancy aids, users need to swim or stabilise themselves to stay in a position with their head out of the water.
What is the life vest filled with?
The lining which ensures the buoyancy of the jacket is made of polyethylene. The component blend of flakes and micro beads provides excellent thermal protection without impairing its comfort and flexibility. The thermal protection was measured at 2.6 Clo.
What are the component's water repellent properties?
The water repellency of your Izeber buoyant jacket is obtained by applying a treatment to its outer surface. This treatment causes water to slide over the surface without soaking in. This prevents the component from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight, breathable, and warm. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime. Water repellent treatment products are available in our stores.
How important is windproofing?
Protection from the wind is critical, as wind can chill the body significantly whether you are active or at rest. According to the "wind chill" model, which measures how the air temperature feels when factoring in the wind and cold: at a temperature of 5°C combined with winds of 30 km/h, the temperature felt will be 0°C. If the air temperature is 0°C and wind speed is 40 km/h, the temperature felt will be -7°C. Your Izeber buoyant jacket counters the wind chill effect.
What is the Clo index?
The clo is the scale that measures the thermal resistance of your Izeber buoyant jacket. During the test, your technical garment's component is exposed to a temperature close to body temperature and a controlled exterior temperature. The clo index explains the ability of your Izeber buoyant jacket to retain your body heat inside the garment. The greater the clo index, the better the technical component will retain your body heat.
