BEDDING IN YOUR BIKE BRAKES IS AN ESSENTIAL PROCESS TO ENSURE EFFECTIVE BRAKING
This involves progressively warming the pads and disc brakes to create an even contact surface .
Before bedding in, please follow these instructions:
-Clean the disc brakes. If you replace the seals, we also recommend replacing the discs.
-Get everything you'll need. Wear a helmet and make sure you have a counter or bike GPS.
-Pick a safe place. Ride on flat, dry road without any obstacles.
BEDDING IN INVOLVES BRAKING PROGRESSIVELY SEVERAL TIMES AT INCREASING SPEEDS.
Alternate the front and rear brakes by following these steps:
Step 1: Ride 15 km/h and progressively brake down to 5 km/h. Repeat 10 times.
Step 2: Ride 20 km/h and progressively brake down to 5 km/h. Repeat 10 times.
Step 3: Ride 25 km/h and progressively brake down to 5 km/h. Repeat 10 times.
Between each step, lay off the brakes and ride for a few dozen meters to air out the disc and calliper.
A FEW EXTRA TIPS ON BEDDING IN DISC BRAKES:
-Use one brake at a time to avoid overheating the pads.
-Ride on a flat road to avoid jolts.
-Do not brake hard while bedding in.
-Be patient. Bedding in can take up to 30 minutes.
-If you see a rainbow mark on your discs or if your braking is less effective, your brakes are "glazed". If this happens to you, feel free to visit a Decathlon Workshop.

Long-lasting brake pads - the cooling wings limit temperature increases, which makes brake performance better on long descents.
