| What is condensation in the context of a bivouac? |
Condensation occurs when moisture in the air cools on contact with the cold walls of a tent, forming water droplets. This happens when the air, heated by the occupants, comes into contact with walls that are colder than the inside of the tent. |
| How does the single-wall MT900 UL 2P tent reduce the build up of condensation? |
The main fabric of this tent uses the Condensless technology
It is an innovative patented (*) process developed by the Decathlon R&D teams that, thanks to its emissivity properties, reduces the appearance of condensation.
However, in the event of heavy rain, humidity can form inside the tent due to the high humidity levels in the air.

| How was the condensation limitation promise tested for this tent? |
In spring 2024, a five-week field test was carried out in the Alps. 29 nights were spent in the MT900 UL single-wall 2P tent by different pairs of people. On 72% of the nights, there was no condensation on the inner walls. Under the same conditions, the control tent (MT900 2P) was free of condensation on only 7% of nights. |
| What are the advantages of a single-wall tent? |
A single-wall tent has a number of advantages:
- Lightweight, thanks to the weight saved on the inner-chamber roof
- Quick to pitch
- Certainty of pitching the tent with the inside dry
The main disadvantage is condensation, which appears directly on the inside of the tent. The Condensless technology used on this tent limits this from happening and reduces the appearance of condensation. |

- The two side awnings are around 70cm wide, providing storage space for two backpacks of around 70 litres.
- The two side pockets allow you to store and organise your belongings. |
| How do you check the waterproofing of the MT900 UL 2P single-wall tent? |
Our tents are laboratory tested. The pitched tent is placed under a shower dispensing 200L/sqm/hour for 3 hours. The equivalent of a tropical rainstorm. |
| How waterproof are this tent’s materials? |
- The main fabric is 20 denier polyester with a waterproof, breathable coating: P20D, 5,000mm H2O (Schmerbers).
- The ground sheet is made of 40 denier polyamide with a polyurethane coating on the inside and silicone on the outside: PA40D, 3,000mm H2O (Schmerbers).
- Seams taped with heat-sealed strips. |
