What are the differences between Nordic walking and hiking?

Nordic walking is performed with special walking poles on flat or gently sloped ground. These monostrand walking poles help propel your action and work your upper body more intensely.
Hiking is done with adjustable walking poles that are used for holding position when climbing, and to avoid slipping when descending.
