Backpack technical tests
Backpack components are approved in laboratory tests, including: fabric, buckles, straps, foam and zips. For example, for fabric: resistance to wear, tearing, colour-fastness under UVs, washing, waterproofing, etc. A final test on the finished product simulates the kind of treatment it will be subjected over several years, to assess the strength of the assembly: with ballasts, they are placed on a mannequin and the movements which accompany quick walking over thousands of cycles are reproduced.
The guarantee covers any backpack faults, except those caused by normal wear and tear and improper use. This special 10-year guarantee will only be granted upon presentation of the product and sales receipt. If the product is covered by the warranted, it will be repaired or exchanged for free. This commercial warranty does not exclude applicable legal warranties dependent on the country and/or State.
Quechua has conducted tests to simulate the ageing of its backpacks. The tests focused on components, seams and the end product. Their results enable Quechua and Decathlon to guarantee the tested bags for a period of 10 years from the date of purchase shown on the sales receipt.
Quechua has decided to inform you on the environmental impact of their hiking backpack products across their entire lifecycle. This work resulted from an experiment completed in July 2011 alongside the French Ministry of the Environment. Scores ranging from A to E were awarded based on comparisons between Quechua's backpacks only.
